The PMS Landscape Is Manageable: The 2026 PMS API Power Index™, Volume I is a joint study by the AI Hospitality Alliance and HotelLogic. It assesses the global hotel property management system market through the lens of API accessibility, integration readiness, and support for AI-era innovation. The full report and scorecard are free to the industry.
The headline number. The study audited 343 PMS vendors. Only 24 of them (7%) publish fully public, self-service API documentation. The remaining 93% are gated or undocumented by default.
How the scoring works. Eighteen product profiles from 17 companies were scored across ten dimensions: operational programmability, event-driven capability, AI readiness, integration breadth, data-model depth, developer experience, production reliability, governance and security, ecosystem maturity, and documentation quality. Every score rests on dated public evidence and a fixed, published methodology. Each scored vendor could review its results and submit primary-source corrections before publication. Sponsorship did not influence methodology, scoring, or placement.
Key findings:
- Availability is not maturity. Composite scores range from 80.0 to 26.3. Publishing an API is the entry test, not proof of a capable one.
- Strong scores concentrate at the top. The five highest-scoring platforms (Mews, Apaleo, Oracle OPERA Cloud, Beds24, Cloudbeds) all score 73.3 or above. The other thirteen fall below 60.
- AI readiness has room to grow. Webhook maturity and AI-agent suitability are not yet standard, and no assessed provider reaches the top of the AI readiness scale.
- Governance is only beginning to separate leaders. Only two of eighteen profiles score above 3 on governance and security. The most common gap is the absence of a locatable GDPR data processing agreement.
Why it matters. For hoteliers, the index is an evidence-based starting point for PMS procurement and technology due diligence: not only whether a PMS can run today's operations, but whether it can power the integrations, automation, and AI capabilities that come next. For PMS providers, it is a transparent benchmark and a roadmap for improving documentation, developer tooling, real-time capability, and AI readiness. The scorecard will be updated twice a year.
