This insight summarizes the September 2026 Hospitality Net opinion piece "The Corporate Booking Tool Found Your Hotel. An AI Decided Which Version to Show." by Markus Busch, publisher of hospitality.today.
Hotels have lost visibility into how their inventory appears in corporate booking tools. Concur, Navan, and their peers now aggregate content from many sources, then use AI to rewrite, merge, and rank listings before a corporate traveler ever sees them — without hotel knowledge or consent.
The consolidation is massive. Amadeus alone carries over 2 million properties, with only about 6% coming from traditional GDS channels where hotels load rates directly. The rest arrives through aggregators, wholesalers, and content resellers with no direct hotel relationship.
One content pipe per country. SAP documentation reveals that corporations typically configure "only one single source of hotel content per country." Every traveler in that market sees inventory from a single selected vendor — often an aggregator, not the GDS where the hotel loaded its negotiated rate.
AI merges duplicates on its own terms. Navan's "room intelligence mapper" uses AI to consolidate duplicate listings from different sources into a single unified description. Whichever source the AI judges "clearest" wins. As Busch puts it: "You did not write that listing. You cannot see it."
Your negotiated rate competes on the same screen as OTA rates. The corporate rate you fought to negotiate appears alongside public OTA prices in one listing, framed to the traveler as "loyalty vs. savings," with no transparency about which data source is which.
What to do now. (1) Email your largest corporate accounts and request screenshots showing exactly how your property displays in their booking tool. (2) Understand that your GDS rate is now one line in twenty, competing with AI-curated alternatives you never approved. (3) Recognize that between the rate you loaded and what the traveler sees sits proprietary software you cannot audit or influence — and plan account management accordingly.
